Commissioned by PARK MGM, Spanish artist Okuda San Miguel and global curator Justkids returned to Las Vegas to bring to life “Mother Natura”, an installation composed of 3 sculptures and a mural, inspired by the legend of Mayahuel, the Mexican goddess of agave and fertility.

Located at Mama Rabbit, the newest bar of the luxury resort, Mother Natura is composed by a large-scale mural rendition of goddess Mayahuel looking down upon a valley with agave in the artist’s acclaimed pop surrealistic visual language. The lower register of the work is completed by three hand painted fiberglass sculptures rendering two slot machines embedded deers and, at the center, a throne in the shape of a bunny towering above at 16’ feet. Together, the mural and the triptych explores the relationship between nature’s mystical elements and the creative role of feminine power, in all its strength and vulnerability, a recurrent theme in the artist body of work.

Okuda’s artwork is the most recent addition to the ever-growing MGM Resorts Fine Art Collection defined by internationally renowned artists including Picasso, Maya Lin, David Hockney, Jenny Holzer, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Ugo Rondinone, Henrique Oliveira and many others.
